The Gap

As she drove

along,

stacks and

stacks of rocks

hugged the

road like

gargantuan gargoyles.

She thought about

the thousands of

years it took

for the them to form,

and as her eyes

scanned the tops

of the cliffs,

she saw trees

reaching out to

each other,

and she wondered

if years and years

ago those trees’ ancestors

curled around each

other,

only to be interrupted

by the man’s dynamite,

now just a legend

that the gap

ever not existed.
