Dish Washing

As she scraped

the gunk off the

fork, watching

the sponge bristles

splitting between

the silver tongs,

she too felt

conflicted,

separated, split.

And she laughed

at herself as

she begun washing

the spoon, water

darkening the stomach

of her shirt.

Must she see her

life reflected in

everything?
